So it’s not surprising that becoming a full-time RVer is rising in popularity. But that doesn’t mean it’s not without its challenges. Before moving into your RV, there are a few things you need to consider.

Find Your Perfect RV
You probably already have an RV if you’re considering living in one. But even so, consider whether it will work for your full-time RVing plan.
There are several things to consider when choosing your RV, such as who will be living in it, where you plan to travel, how you plan to travel, and many more. Will you need space for the whole family or just for you? Will you travel to a new destination often or stay in one spot for prolonged periods? Will you be boondocking or staying at campsites? These are just a few things to consider when deciding on your RV, as these lifestyle differences require vastly different RV features and amenities.

Secure An Income
While RVing full-time is less costly than renting a house or paying a mortgage, you’ll still need a steady source of income.
Many full-timers sell or rent out their house to help cover their RV living costs, and many are also retired with pensions. But if you don’t plan to live off your savings, you’ll have to look for other options. From remote work, contract jobs, passive income, or even running your own business, there are plenty of things for a full-time RVer to do.
Start Downsizing
Becoming a full-time RVer means embracing minimalism. Once you’re living in a motorhome, you won’t have the space to keep all your furniture and belongings. So, it’s best to start downsizing as early as possible to make the transition easier. Go through all of your things and decide whether to keep, sell, give away, donate, or toss them. You probably have more belongings than you even realize – so the earlier, the better.
Find An Address
One important thing to consider before becoming a full-time RVer is your address. Although you might be living on the road, you need a permanent address for a number of things, such as your driver’s license, insurance, passport, taxes, and mail. Some full-timers use a friend or family member’s address. Another option is to own or rent a long-term RV lot where you can get your mail and register your official address.
Don’t Skip Insurance
Living in your RV means changing up your insurance policies. Most vehicle insurance plans don’t cover full-time living, so you may have to shop around to find one that will suit your needs. And you’ll also need insurance for the contents of your RV, not just your vehicle.
Get To Know Your RV
If you’re going to live in it, you better know it inside and out. Read the manual, watch videos, read blogs, familiarize yourself with all the features, and practice driving it to get accustomed to your RV. You don’t want to find yourself in a pickle with no idea what to do. It always helps to be prepared for anything.
But even if you become an expert on your RV, it can’t beat a full mechanical inspection. Some insurance policies require an annual inspection, but even if yours doesn’t, it’s better to check that your new home is in tip-top shape before driving off into the sunset.
Stay Connected
Getting an internet connection can be tricky for some, depending on where you plan to camp. With the right plan and the right equipment, you can get a signal almost anywhere. Some RVers like to be disconnected, however if you plan on working remotely or if WiFi is essential for you, consider getting a WiFi extender or a Satellite internet plan.
