Places to RV this May Long

Long weekends are what you make of them, and with winter behind us, the May long weekend offers the perfect opportunity to dust off your RV’s wings and enjoy the spring air. Here are some campground

recommendations to help you plan your itinerary.

Before you go anywhere in your RV, make sure you’ve properly de-winterized it. Read our blog post.

Grand Beach Campground

Manitobans have been enjoying the campsites at Grand Beach for decades, and it’s still a great option. Grand Beach Provincial Park is one of the most popular, well-known, and developed beach and camping areas in the province. Well-serviced campsites, good hiking trails, a beautiful beach boardwalk with concessions and shopping, and warm shallow waters make it a family-friendly Manitoba classic.

Wasagaming Campground

At walking distance from beautiful Clear Lake and a short drive away from Riding Mountain National Park, Wasagaming will tick all your activity boxes, from hiking and cycling to kayaking and canoeing — even tennis and golf. After enjoying the outdoors, ride into town, where you can enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, go shopping, or tour a museum.

Town & Country Campground

If you’re not looking to stray too far from the city, Town & Country Campground offers a peaceful, country-style camping experience barely 10 minutes east of Winnipeg. It’s perfect for those who might need to pop into the city for an errand or two or buy groceries. The lots are spacious, and the park even has an off-leash dog park on its grounds if you prefer to RV with your pup.

Winnipeg Beach Campground

Another popular beach and camping destination, Winnipeg Beach should be familiar if you live in Manitoba. The park’s campground features spacious, private lots and is close to shopping — not to mention one of Manitoba’s best beaches.

West Hawk Lake Campground

West Hawk Lake lies around two hours east of Winnipeg in Whiteshell Provincial Park. Surrounded by forests of pine and poplar, West Hawk Lake has excellent hiking trails and scuba diving. Restaurants, a convenience store, a museum, and a gas station are steps away from the beach. If you’re into canoeing, check out the atmospheric Caddy Lake Tunnels nearby.
